Hail's Soft Serve Ice Cream (Damansara uptown)

I have always wondered where Damansara Uptown is. I use the LDP highways regularly to travel to both Subang and PJ areas and I know the existence of these shop lots since years ago, however, I didn't know that the area itself is known as Damansara Uptown until last week when Javier showed me the way to the newly opened shopping mall called The Starling. I went to the place again yesterday with my sis and her friend. Initially, I wanted to try out the other ice cream parlor named 'Softsrve' but in the end, I've decided to try this one out instead because this shop was nearer to our place. So here we are, Hail's soft serve!

IMG_0974

Headed over to the counter to have our orders taken and I was a bit confused for a short moment. There are many types of ice cream combinations that you can choose from and they do serve coffee as well. Three of us decided to go for the plain ice cream in a cup option as we were still full from our earlier lunch.

Waited for a little while for our ice cream to be served.

IMG_0968
They have a little self-service corner where customers can help themselves to the cutlery, serviettes or drinking water.

IMG_0962
Look at how cute and pretty the pastel-colored cups are!

IMG_0927
I ordered a plain soft serve with two flavour combinations which consisted of blue gula Melaka and teh tarik. RM9.50.

IMG_0928
What I would say about their ice cream is that they have a really really creamy texture, even creamier than the ice cream we had at milkcow's! It has a rich, soft and creamy texture which made me go like 'Woah'.

IMG_0929

IMG_0936
Sis also had the plain soft serve with two flavor combinations which are the sirap bandung and pandan cake. Also RM9.50.

IMG_0925
Can't deny that they have really cute and interesting decorations in the shop.

IMG_0924
I liked this light decoration a lot. It's a fluffy cloud with strings of clear plastic balls.

IMG_0975
Looks almost like a real cloud, literally.

IMG_0967
Here's the total bill. And yea, my sister's friend ordered a soft serve with 4 flavour combinations which consisted of all the flavours I mentioned above. Their soft serve flavours of the month are the blue gula melaka, pandan cake, sirap bandung and teh tarik.

IMG_0933
Here's an artsy photo of the soft serve with the shop's decos.

What do I think of this place?
I would say it's worth the visit, however, I wished that there were more soft serve flavors available.
Definitely a nice place for a little hangout with your friends and family.

10 reasons why I love Kuala Lumpur

This post was drafted a year ago and was rediscovered by me today. I didn't post this up earlier because I thought I would have had some amendments to do and to add some pictures here and there. I'm glad that I'm finally done writing this post and so.. happy reading! 😊

IMG_9426

Another inspiration popped in my mind today. Why don't I blog about the city that I love most in my country? When I was as young as 2 years old, I have always been wandering around the streets in Kuala Lumpur with my family. I would sit in the car quietly and enjoy every single beautiful view of the city. For those of you who didn't know, Kuala Lumpur is the main capital of Malaysia and this is the place where you will get to see all the beautiful skyscrapers along with our country's well known buildings which are both the Kuala Lumpur twin towers (Menara KLCC) and the Kuala Lumpur tower (Menara KL). I guess what makes me love Kuala Lumpur even more is because I am born and raised here. I feel very grateful to be born in such an amazing place. I cannot lie that I have so much love for Kuala Lumpur and that brings me to this topic today which is 10 reasons why I love KL. Let's go!

20151127_131157

1. This is the place where you can find all the amazing food.

Nasi lemak, char kuey teow, roti canai, you name it all and we have it here, like literally! What makes our country so popular is our food. We will never get bored with the food here. And the good part of it is that you can just find it anywhere in KL. Malay cuisines, chinese cuisines and indian cuisines can be found in the malls itself or at the shops outside on the streets of KL. If you're hungry in the middle of the night, you need not to be worried about it as you can just simply find a 24-hour operated food shop/store near you such as Mcdonalds, KFC or a mamak stall. If you're lonely and want to meet your friends to have a chat even as early as at 1 am in the morning, you can just ask them out to have teh ice at any of the nearby mamak stalls. Convenient right! We also have many well-known hotels located here like Shangri-la, Hilton and many more that serves great cuisines, buffet or fine dining. Basically, if you're here in KL, you should try out the different kinds of local delights and it will surely not disappoint you!

Also, we have many interesting dessert shops and cafes to satisfy both your sweet cravings and cafe hopping experiences.

2. Most of the grand and huge shopping malls are located here.

According to wikipedia (2017), the 8th world's biggest shopping mall is located here in Kuala Lumpur which is the one utama shopping mall! To be exact, one utama isn't not located right in the city centre but still its location is kind of near to KL. For people like me who loves shopping, this might be a right place for us as we have many huge shopping malls available here such as the Suria KLCC mall, Pavilion Bukit Bintang, Midvalley Megamall, the Gardens, Starhill Gallery (for the luxurious) and a lot more. For example, if you're a tech gadget lover, you can always check out the Low Yat plaza nearby Sungei Wang plaza and if you're a fashionista, you can check out Pavilion for branded accessories and fashion or midvalley megamall for varieties of shoes and clothings.

3. The city view of Kuala Lumpur is absolutely stunning and breathtaking no matter during the day or night.

Believe me, if you had the opportunity to wander around the streets of KL at night, you will surely be amazed by its beautiful city views, especially around the city center. If you're a person who is willing to splurge on dining at places such as the Troika skydining or at Marini's on 57, you'll get to enjoy the gorgeous kl city view during your meal and at the same time, you'll get to take selfies or portraits with the breathtaking skyline views and also with the KLCC towers in the background of your picture. In my own opinion, another way of enjoying the city's beautiful skyline is by visiting the menara kuala lumpur (KL tower) in the early evenings till late evenings as you'll get to observe how the KL skyline looks like during the day and during night time.

4. We have a lot of holidays.

Erm, this is not a really valid reason but yeah, aside from all the awesome features we have in the city of KL, the best part of being here is that we have a lot of holidays! We have holidays for festive seasons and that's already for sure but we also have holidays for Thaipusam, federal territory day and etc. Why do I love holidays? Because I'll get to sleep longer and need not to wake up early in these mornings hahaha. What a lazy fellow.

5. You will get to see a lot of beautiful festive decorations around the place during different festive seasons.

During festive seasons, you will get the opportunity to see the decorations around the city especially during CNY, hari raya puasa, deepavali and the most anticipated Christmas season. You can see such decorations most likely in the shopping malls itself or sometimes on the streets of KL. If it's on the streets, you'll see mini lanterns, ketupats or fairy lights being hung and lit up on the street lights. I personally love visiting Pavilion KL during festive seasons to take a look at their festive decorations as they always have really impressive decorations during such celebrations.

6. Modern concepts, everywhere in the city!

Personally, I dislike traditional/olden looking places or shopping malls.. I just don't really know why but it does give me a little bit of a creepy feeling whenever I visit such places. I love going to places which seem more modern (ok don't judge) and has a clean looking feeling with a brightly-lit environment. And KL has such places.

7. Most of the country's famous attractions are here.

The most famous buildings of our country such as the KLCC twin towers and menara KL is located here. Famous cultural and religious places such as the Batu Caves, the national mosque and the large Thean Hou temple is located here as well. KL has more attractions like the national park, aquaria KLCC, national zoo, bird park and etc. People from other places would have to travel far just to come to KL and visit these places while I have the privilege of visiting these places as many times as I like since I'm living in this city. Hehehe.

8. Our people are friendly.

Perhaps you may have encountered with a few unfriendly events with our people here but I have to say, most of our people here could be the nicest people you will ever meet! We speak all kinds of languages such as Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, Cantonese, English, Tamil and different kinds of dialects.

9. Lively happenings usually take place here as this is the main city of the country!

Most music concerts take place here and we always get the most main updates (in terms of food and news). Take some of the restaurants or cafes as an example, most well known international cafes or dining restaurants will have their franchise opened here in the center of Malaysia, which is Kuala Lumpur. If I'm not mistaken, the franchises of international cafes like tous les jours, caffebene and etc, international dining restaurants such as Din Tai Fung and etc and international food and beverage stalls such as chatime, llao llao and etc are firstly opened around the places in KL in Malaysia. Hence as a part of a KL-ian, we get to try out these new stuff ahead of others (oopsie, no offense guys).

10. You will never get bored of this place.

You can never get bored here or you can never get bored of this place. Although I've been living in KL for so many years, I'm never bored of this place. On a random day, you can just do some shopping around here, go to a hipster cafe and enjoy the food and beverage there or even check out some of the places you've never been to before in KL. There's a lot of things to do in KL.

Here I've included a few KL related posts that may spark your interest:

As for other posts, you can check out the tags at the sidebar of my blog.

If you are also living in KL, what do you like about this place?
And if you're a tourist, welcome to Kuala Lumpur!

Strangers at 47 and exploring Sunway Velocity

Hi lovelies! How was your day? Hope you had a good one and on a brighter note, tomorrow is friday! YASSS FRIYAYYYY! Ever since holidays had started, I've been repeating the same typical holiday routine like all the previous times/years. That includes eating, playing with my gadgets all day long and sleeping. I literally spend almost 10+ hours watching youtube videos every day. What am I doing with my life seriously lolz.

Untitled

On the other hand, I'm proud of myself because I've started on my workout journey! Of course, I'm a beginner at such things and I wouldn't dare say that I'm good at it but I'm still really pleased with myself for taking the initiative to do it. I have gained a lot of weight after my high school days, probably due to the lack of physical exercises and come to think of it, I ran a lot back then because of my hectic duties (ya know when teachers kept asking you to do this and that) that's why I was a lot thinner. I hope I could keep up with such 'healthy' exercising routines and not giving up on it because I really really need to shed some weight off. Dem fat thighs tho.

Sundays are our family days so my family and I will usually visit shopping malls in the evening. We came across a Sunway Velocity banner on the side of a road nearby ikea cheras last week so I suggested to the fam that we should give it a visit since some of my friends said that it's quite a nice mall (ok I'm the one who does the suggestion most of the time). The interior of the mall reminds me very much of sunway pyramid except that this one's a bit smaller (I think?).

Then we had our dinner at pasta zanmai.

Untitled
Tried the black pepper chicken doria (cheese baked rice) for the first time. It was quite good but the more you eat the spicier it gets. 😣

Untitled
Every time when I walk past this fried ice cream store, it would remind me a lot of my childhood days. When I was little, I used to buy fried ice creams from a little store inside carrefour. Back in those days, one fried ice cream only costed about RM3 or 4 and now it's priced at minimum RM6-7 for one?! Crazy.

Untitled
Nevertheless, I thought I'd still give it a try. Ordered a strawberry yogurt flavored one.

Untitled
Tbh, I don't think it's worth the money. This thing is RM14 wth. It tasted like some ordinary strawberry ice cream that you can find in the supermarket with just a touch of fanciness to it. The only interesting thing about it is that it's in roll forms.

Untitled
Yesterday, I went back to school for a mini gym workout session with Dio babe and after that, we went for breakfast at Strangers at 47. I know I know, after the meal I gained back all the calories I've burnt earlier. 😓

Untitled

Untitled

Untitled
They have sweet or savory crepes. As for the savory, Dio and I shared a BBC crepe (don't think dirty ya). RM 24. Not bad for a breakfast platter but the crepe was quite small...

Untitled
I love the ambiance of the cafe, service was good and the staffs are friendly. That's one satisfied customer here. 😜

Untitled
As for the sweet, I ordered a red velvet crepe. It has a cute name called the 'red riding hood'. RM11.50. What I like about their crepes is that it's so so soft! But I didn't really like its fillings. I would say the taste of the strawberry jam has overpowered the crepe's taste itself. But I would give an A for the presentation. 😛

Untitled
Dio's dark chocolate crepe aka 'the dark side'. RM11.

Untitled
I would definitely come back to this place for a visit again! 😋

Untitled
Baked some red velvet cupcakes this afternoon and they turned out to be amazing!

That's all that I've got to update you guys for now.
Hope you've enjoyed the post!
See you guys again soon and take care. 💖

Catching up with me (March-May 2017)

My summer break is finally here! Not quite sure if it's called a summer break or just a sem break but whatever, my break started last Friday, right after my final paper which was contract law. Done as best as I could and I'm really hoping that I'll survive through this madness. And of course, the exam was pretty darn difficult.

Within these 2-3 months, nothing much has happened and no interesting events has taken place hence I won't be able to share much with you guys here. Stayed at home most of the times because I needed to study.

I am looking forward to more updates in this little space. Hopefully I'll get to blog more before heading towards year 2 of degree. Now, I shall include a short update of whatever I've done in the past few months. :)

Untitled
Watched the pingu series before class because we cool like that. Can't wait to reunite with the uni mates for year 2 classes!

Untitled
The chateraise chain stores are growing bigger and bigger. Each time when we pass by the stores, we couldn't stop ourselves from looking at their beautifully decorated cakes. I've tried their cream puffs before and it tastes really good. Custard and whipped cream fans should really not miss trying out their original custard cream puffs cuz trust me, it's worth it.

Untitled
I personally like their mixed fruit cake more than the plain strawberry cream cake.

Untitled
Sephora was on a private 20% sales so I couldn't resist myself from buying some stuffs hehehe.

Untitled
Tried out one of the smoothie bowls from ola bowls pavilion the other day because it looked kindda appetizing on the photos. It wasn't bad... but I didn't really like the "grainy" taste of it, if that makes sense. I loved the mango smoothie bowl from rubberduck hartamas more, probably because it contains lesser grains/granolas. For those who love healthy food or desserts, this might be a nice treat for you.

Untitled
Went to plan B for dinner one night. The only time we went there for a meal was around 4 years ago and since then, we didn't plan to return to this place again because we didn't really enjoy the types of food they used to serve in their previous menus. The new menu seems nice so we gave it another shot.

Untitled

Untitled

Untitled
Ice blended lemon tea (frostie). RM11. It's just plain lemon tea with finely crushed ice,

Untitled
Sis had 'ham and spaghettini' which is RM25.

Untitled
I had 'the notorious big' which is RM25 also. It's a soft shelled crab burger with chips on the side.

Untitled
Went to visit ikea for house interior deco inspirations.

Untitled
Yesterday, I went for a short outing with my uni buddies. Had our lunch at sushi zanmai, one utama.

Untitled
Sushi zanmai has upgraded their serving game hahaha. They now serve certain types of food using the little train. It's fun to watch it making its way to deliver food to the customers.

Untitled
I had a little salmon don. RM17.90.

Untitled

Untitled
Then we went to watch alien: covenant at TGV. The movie was quite okay but its audio got me freaked out a few times. Here's a little spoiler: everyone died except 2 crew members of the spaceship. 😆

Untitled
Ending my post with this beautiful sunset that I caught one evening.

That's all for now, take care!
