ABC Cooking Studio Malaysia Experience

Hello everyone! Welcome back to my blog! The feeling of writing a brand new post is a little bit odd to me especially since I've decided to quit blogging months ago and here I am sitting infant of a laptop deciding to write again. Nonetheless, I still feel very honoured and grateful to be able to blog again so I do hope you guys will enjoy reading my posts!

Oof (meme), enough of my speeches, let's jump right into the topic.

Will you ever imagine yourself stepping into a cooking academy wanting to learn something when you're clearly not interested in cooking? I definitely wouldn't. Cooking has never been my thing and it will not be. But I like baking. I love cakes and desserts. Baking gives me joy because I get to see what types of monsters I get to create. Nah, just joking. I like baking, especially cupcakes as I get to be creative in twisting the recipes, like turning simple vanilla cupcakes into rainbow cupcakes. Also, I get to learn a few tips from baking even though the end products don't always turn out great.

However, I tend to use pre-mixed cake batters whenever I decide to bake because I believe pre-mixed ingredients are mostly fool-proof and I do not have to go through the hassle of buying all the ingredients separately and then measuring them in wrong amounts resulting in chaos and waste.

About 4 days ago, my parents and I stumbled upon this cooking academy which I believe most of you may have heard about it before which is the ABC Cooking Studio in Pavilion KL. They were having promotional trial classes for first-timers who are interested in joining their cooking or baking classes. They also offer a variety of other classes like Japanese dessert classes and international cuisine classes. I got one of their flyers and brought it home for reference. I browsed through their website and my parents agreed that I should give one of their trial baking lessons a try since I'm pretty free at the moment. So, I signed up for their sakura cheesecake baking class at RM70 (first-timer and must like their FB page).

Shameless to say, this is my first time baking without using pre-mixed ingredients and I'm excited about it!

My mum fetched me there and we arrived 10 minutes earlier than the specified time which is 7.30pm. According to the email that I've received, it stated that students are supposed to be there 10 minutes beforehand and students that are late for over 10 minutes will not be able to join the class. Thus it's crucial that you reach the class early instead of being late.

We had to wear aprons and wash our hands before joining the class.

Not forgetting to mention, they also provide lockers and this means you can safely keep your bags and belongings in the locker without having to worry about them.

Each class can have up to 4 students per table. My class had a total of 4 students including myself. My lesson instructor was a guy but he was patient and did provide good guidance. The class was conducted professionally.

Here's how my table looks like. Each of us are given tools and ingredients and even a piece of printed recipe for you to bring home!

The cake we're making today is sakura berry lava, basically a sakura jelly cheesecake with oozing strawberry lava. 🎂🍓🌸

I couldn't get to snap some pictures during class since I was busy with all the whipping and mixing.

After we're all done with the steps, it's time to put our cake into the fridge and let it set! There's the little fridge tucked underneath the wooden cabinet.

My final product! 😄

I really love how it turned out and I'm really proud about it! 💖

My thoughts on this

The class was enjoyable since you get to create your very own sakura cheesecake from scratch and the studio was bright and fully air-conditioned. The studio uses top quality kitchen tools like hand mixers from kitchenaid and ingredients (I believe) as well.

There's just one thing- I was a little bit disappointed because 2 of my classmates weren't exactly friendly and so it wasn't really comfortable learning with them but another classmate of mine was really helpful so it kinda made things better for me.

Overall, I would recommend those who wants to have a try at cooking or baking to join their trial classes since it's affordable and enjoyable. But it's totally up to you if you want to join their full-time cooking courses.

Anyway, I'm really happy that I get to make my very own successful cheesecake!

THE REVIVAL

Yes b*tches I'm BACK!

About 3 months ago, I was pretty fed up with the entire blogging thing already mainly because of the issues caused by Flickr and hence I decided to quit. During that moment, I did take some time off thinking about it. Am I really ready to quit blogging? Or am I just doing it out of anger at that very moment of time? At first, I really thought there is no more hope in blogging but then I thought to myself, blogging has always been something that I really enjoy doing so should I actually give it another go?

The answer is clearly yes.

But what about the picture storage issues? Good question, I honestly haven't given much thought about that but I thought I would sort it out later. I may just switch to using google photos first and I'll just leave my Flickr account out to chill. I'm just too lazy to give a damn about that account anymore. I did realise some of the pictures went missing in some of the posts and I'm also lazy to care about them and so I will leave them as it is.

I have also cleared some of my old posts as they were pretty cringey and non-informative based (in case you don't understand what I'm saying I mean they're useless lol). I still keep some of those in my blog as they are of sentimental value, at least to me.

If you noticed, I have also made some changes to the blog. I have given it a brand new header- but a temporary one because I plan to replace it with a nicer one in the future and also new signature and some minor modifications on the sidebar.

Once again, welcome back to my blog and happy reading!
