BLUE LATTE? πŸ’™☕ - Jamaica Blue, Midvalley

Last week, my sis and I decided to have our lunch at the Jamaica Blue cafe located on the first floor of Midvalley. The cafe has been there for years but we have never really thought of trying it out with our parents before since my dad isn't really into western food. That morning was the perfect opportunity for us to try the food out there since we were kinda craving for western food and only both of us were there.

We 'discovered' this cafe through the zomato app while browsing for restaurants and cafes.

The ordering process is simple. Just head over to the counter to place your order and they will hand you a table number stand. After that, just choose wherever you want to sit and place that number stand on your table and the staffs will deliver the food and drinks to you.

There are also a lot of cakes and pastries for you to choose from the counter.

Blue latte. RM14.10 (large).

Instead of ordering coffee, my sis and I agreed to try out their blue latte since it's blue! It's got a very interesting colour unlike other normal latte(s) that have a soft brown colour. Both of us shared a cup since we don't feel like drinking much that day.

It turned out that this blue latte had no coffee in it at all! According to their website, it is actually a blend of white chocolate, milk and blue curaçao syrup. Sounds basic but it actually tasted really good! The blue latte had a very sweet vanilla taste to it and not too sugary. We loved it.

I had a big breakfast set to myself, RM24.90.

This breakfast platter consisted of tomatoes, mushrooms, a sausage, ham slices, bread, omelette and I'm not really sure what the other thing was.. maybe two slices of cheese? It is also served with some tomato sauce and margarine.

The big breakfast was not bad but the sausage and the 'cheese slices' were a little bit too salty.

Sis had potato hash with mushrooms, tomatoes and poached eggs, RM18.30.

Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience. The thing that I liked the most from here would definitely be the blue latte since it tasted pretty good and the colour was really pretty as well.

ABC Cooking Studio Malaysia Experience

Hello everyone! Welcome back to my blog! The feeling of writing a brand new post is a little bit odd to me especially since I've decided to quit blogging months ago and here I am sitting infant of a laptop deciding to write again. Nonetheless, I still feel very honoured and grateful to be able to blog again so I do hope you guys will enjoy reading my posts!

Oof (meme), enough of my speeches, let's jump right into the topic.

Will you ever imagine yourself stepping into a cooking academy wanting to learn something when you're clearly not interested in cooking? I definitely wouldn't. Cooking has never been my thing and it will not be. But I like baking. I love cakes and desserts. Baking gives me joy because I get to see what types of monsters I get to create. Nah, just joking. I like baking, especially cupcakes as I get to be creative in twisting the recipes, like turning simple vanilla cupcakes into rainbow cupcakes. Also, I get to learn a few tips from baking even though the end products don't always turn out great.

However, I tend to use pre-mixed cake batters whenever I decide to bake because I believe pre-mixed ingredients are mostly fool-proof and I do not have to go through the hassle of buying all the ingredients separately and then measuring them in wrong amounts resulting in chaos and waste.

About 4 days ago, my parents and I stumbled upon this cooking academy which I believe most of you may have heard about it before which is the ABC Cooking Studio in Pavilion KL. They were having promotional trial classes for first-timers who are interested in joining their cooking or baking classes. They also offer a variety of other classes like Japanese dessert classes and international cuisine classes. I got one of their flyers and brought it home for reference. I browsed through their website and my parents agreed that I should give one of their trial baking lessons a try since I'm pretty free at the moment. So, I signed up for their sakura cheesecake baking class at RM70 (first-timer and must like their FB page).

Shameless to say, this is my first time baking without using pre-mixed ingredients and I'm excited about it!

My mum fetched me there and we arrived 10 minutes earlier than the specified time which is 7.30pm. According to the email that I've received, it stated that students are supposed to be there 10 minutes beforehand and students that are late for over 10 minutes will not be able to join the class. Thus it's crucial that you reach the class early instead of being late.

We had to wear aprons and wash our hands before joining the class.

Not forgetting to mention, they also provide lockers and this means you can safely keep your bags and belongings in the locker without having to worry about them.

Each class can have up to 4 students per table. My class had a total of 4 students including myself. My lesson instructor was a guy but he was patient and did provide good guidance. The class was conducted professionally.

Here's how my table looks like. Each of us are given tools and ingredients and even a piece of printed recipe for you to bring home!

The cake we're making today is sakura berry lava, basically a sakura jelly cheesecake with oozing strawberry lava. πŸŽ‚πŸ“πŸŒΈ

I couldn't get to snap some pictures during class since I was busy with all the whipping and mixing.

After we're all done with the steps, it's time to put our cake into the fridge and let it set! There's the little fridge tucked underneath the wooden cabinet.

My final product! πŸ˜„

I really love how it turned out and I'm really proud about it! πŸ’–

My thoughts on this

The class was enjoyable since you get to create your very own sakura cheesecake from scratch and the studio was bright and fully air-conditioned. The studio uses top quality kitchen tools like hand mixers from kitchenaid and ingredients (I believe) as well.

There's just one thing- I was a little bit disappointed because 2 of my classmates weren't exactly friendly and so it wasn't really comfortable learning with them but another classmate of mine was really helpful so it kinda made things better for me.

Overall, I would recommend those who wants to have a try at cooking or baking to join their trial classes since it's affordable and enjoyable. But it's totally up to you if you want to join their full-time cooking courses.

Anyway, I'm really happy that I get to make my very own successful cheesecake!

THE REVIVAL

A ridiculous photo of me and a cup of tea in my hands.

Yes b*tches I'm BACK!

About 3 months ago, I was pretty fed up with the entire blogging thing already mainly because of the issues caused by Flickr and hence I decided to quit. During that moment, I did take some time off thinking about it. Am I really ready to quit blogging? Or am I just doing it out of anger at that very moment of time? At first, I really thought there is no more hope in blogging but then I thought to myself, blogging has always been something that I really enjoy doing so should I actually give it another go?

The answer is clearly yes.

But what about the picture storage issues? Good question, I honestly haven't given much thought about that but I thought I would sort it out later. I may just switch to using google photos first and I'll just leave my Flickr account out to chill. I'm just too lazy to give a damn about that account anymore. I did realise some of the pictures went missing in some of the posts and I'm also lazy to care about them and so I will leave them as it is.

I have also cleared some of my old posts as they were pretty cringey and non-informative based (in case you don't understand what I'm saying I mean they're useless lol). I still keep some of those in my blog as they are of sentimental value, at least to me.

If you noticed, I have also made some changes to the blog. I have given it a brand new header- but a temporary one because I plan to replace it with a nicer one in the future and also new signature and some minor modifications on the sidebar.

Once again, welcome back to my blog and happy reading!

2018

I initially wrote another blog post to sum up all the things that I've done and experienced in the year 2018 but I've decided not to post that one cuz it sounded quite emotional and sad. Here I am, sitting infront of the laptop writing a brand new blog post to conclude everything about 2018.

2018 is the year I turned 21. It's by far, the strangest (or should I say worst) year of my entire life because there were just way too many things that had happened.

Pewdiepie once said in one of his videos,

"2018 should never have happened. It's just getting worse.."

Well sometimes I kinda wished 2018 had never happened before but at some point, I'm grateful it did because it taught me quite of lot of things.

Let me sum up what are the things I've learnt and experienced this year:

1. I loved Bohemian Rhapsody (watched it 3 times!)

I cannot say enough of this movie because it was really good, at least to me. There are a few differences between the real Queen history and the movie's storyline but nevertheless the movie was beautifully shot. I really enjoyed the movie. If you haven't watched it, I'd recommend you to watch it! I'm so gonna get the DVD version of it once it's on the shelves. 😊

2. Became a fan of Queen's songs

Not jumping on the bandwagon but after watching that movie, I went to do some research on the band's history and songs. I listened to a few of their hits and I instantly fell in love with them. Their music just speaks to me for some reason. I expected rock songs to be a bit too loud for my liking but to my surprise, their songs changed my perception towards rock music. When I think of electric guitars and drums I think of the high pitched and loud noises they make but after listening to their music for a while, I sort of got used to these types of sounds already. I really do love a lot of their songs such as 'Don't stop me now', 'Play the game', 'I want to break free', 'Radio Gaga' and 'You're my best friend'.

Also, not to mention that each of the band members are actually really cute.

3. Went to Bangkok

It was definitely an eye-opening experience for me and my family. Loved the food and people there despite the not-so-amazing hotel experience.

4. Went on non-dairy food alternatives

I had to stop myself from consuming dairy products as they are bad for my stomach. I tend to puke whenever I consume food or beverages containing dairy products like milk or cheese. This also means I can no longer enjoy ice cream, milk tea and almost anything that contains milk.

Tried out a few alternatives such as almond milk, rice milk and oat milk and I preferred oat milk the best as it has that rich and fragrant taste to it. Also, I can only enjoy ice vegan ice cream or sorbet or sherbet.

It wasn't easy for me but I just had to do it.

5. Enrolled into year 3 of university

A little bit early to say this but hey, I'm completing my degree soon! This is my third year in the UOL LLB programme and things are getting way harder than it used to be, especially with the subject called Jurisprudence that deals with law philosophies. I personally do not quite like that subject even though it's pretty interesting to learn because when it comes to applications, it sucked big time. I really hope I can finish this degree smoothly!

6. First ever drum class!

I always had a thing for drums since young but I was afraid to try it out because well, I had no guts lolz. I wasn't confident enough to learn drums because I always thought they looked difficult to be learnt and all but after years of hesitation, I did it! I registered for my first ever drum class! As I'm writing this, I have yet to attend the class.. The class is on this coming Saturday and I hope I can learn a few tips and tricks from it. Fingers crossed! I might consider buying myself a drum set in the near future and start playing it during my free time. Can't wait!

7. Started making some vlogs (for fun)

I love watching other peoples' vlogs but I have never thought of making my own vlogs. After much thought, I decided to give it a try and I enjoyed making them! However, I have to admit such videos are quite time consuming and difficult to edit especially the subtitles, they can take you HOURS to do it. I'll make more of these whenever I have the time in the future!

8. Made my own bubble tea

After a few tries, my sis and I managed to create our very own bubble milk tea! The most difficult part of creating a nice cup of bubble tea is the pearl making part. That can take you literally two hours and a lot of hardwork otherwise you will end up getting a pot of oobleck (gross). But still, it was fun!

9. Tried out some expensive stuff (food)

Laduree macarons and Kyoho grapes. Both were quite expensive but didn't disappoint but not sure if I will ever get them again. Maybe I'll get those Kyoho grapes again next time cuz they're good.

10. It's okay to be emotional

I confess, I've been through quite a numerous times of emotional roller coaster rides this year. Inevitable heartbreaks, arguments and bad happenings.. it was quite tough for me to cope with those times. There are also times where I felt lonely for god knows what reasons those are for. I think, after being in such situations it had taught me one thing, that is, to voice out your thoughts or to share your problems with someone like a friend or someone whom you can trust.

Surround yourself with lots of good and supportive friends. Seek help and not keep everything to yourself.

Alternatively, keep yourself occupied with hobbies or activities or even trying out things that you have never ever tried doing before. From there, you might pick up one or two things that you like or discovering that you're actually good at doing them (not s*x pls lol).

11. Just be the best version of yourself

Really, do what you love and just embrace your own style. Fuck what everybody thinks of you because darling, you only live once and so just do whatever makes you feel comfortable and great about yourself.

Don't have to try hard to be someone else otherwise for the rest of your life, you will only be busy chasing other people's lives and not living in your own.

And remember, stay humble.

Thanks for reading, wishing everyone a happy new year and may 2019 be a smooth sailing year for the all of us!

Lots of love.
