Shangri-La KL buffet lunch at Lemon Garden cafe

 
Shangri-La.. It is one of the best 5-star hotels in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Shangri La KL is not only well known for its ideal location and luxurious guestrooms, but it is also famous for its buffet meals at the Lemon Garden cafe. Many bloggers listed the hotel's buffet as one of the must-try buffets in the Klang Valley.

After hearing many compliments regarding their buffet both from my relatives and the internet, I had decided to give this buffet a try with my besties on a lovely Sunday afternoon. It was really great seeing each other again after so many weeks of holiday. Buffet lunches are priced at RM140 nett per person on Sundays.

Ordered a cup of tea to enjoy with the desserts.

Starting off my buffet lunch with a plate of fresh seafood and sashimi. Everything here, on this plate tasted so good! The salmon sashimi was the most popular among all the sashimi(s).

On the second round I got myself some chinese steamed fish, chicken satay and two more scallops.

Then on the third round, I got myself some seafood again, a slice of pizza, some cold dishes, a fried mantou (bun) and more scallops.. That was my first time in my life eating a raw oyster.

This is the chinese cuisine section. You can find typical chinese cuisines such as roasted chicken, steamed fish meat and steamed prawns here.

They also serve dim sum too!

Both beef and chicken satays. Their chicken satays were delicious though!

The thing that caught most of our attention was definitely the chocolate fountain!

By the time I head over to the chocolate fountain corner to get some chocolate dipped treats, I was feeling sort of disappointed because none of the marshmallow sticks and strawberry sticks were left and it wasn't being replenished again. That sucks.

Their pastries are really interesting and appealing.

Different kinds of cakes and puddings and jellies.

Ice cream and toppings corner. They serve both normal ice creams and frozen yogurt ice creams.

A fruit stick coated in chocolate sauce, two creme brulees and a vanilla panna cotta. I liked the vanilla panna cotta a lot as it wasn't very sweet and it's super creamy.

The creme brulee. It tasted pretty much like the egg tart's filling.

Got myself a scoop of mango sherbet and chocolate ice cream. The mango sherbet was sugary but refreshing.

And the last thing that I've eaten during the buffet was this raspberry frozen yogurt ice cream. This bowl of froyo was very interesting as it contains a hint of saltiness in it! Goodness.




Was it worth the try? Yes. But would I ever come back again? Maybe not. The things that I only liked from this buffet was their fresh seafood and the wide range of pastries and desserts. That's all I have for now, see you guys later!

YES, MY FRIENDS AND I ARE FINALLY DONE WITH OUR A-LEVELS!

(Should have said that a week ago)

It feels good to have my freedom back. Not going to be touching any books for 3 months time except novels. At the same time, I'm feeling really nervous and anxious about my results. Am I the only one who feels like this currently? Hahaha.

One of the most common questions that I have received from my friends is "Hey Doris, so what will you be doing during this 3-month period time?". 

Well, I said I don't know and they asked me "So will you be getting a part-time job or so?" and I said no. 

Why? It's because I think that this would be my final time (maybe) getting such a long period of holiday and I don't feel like wasting it. I know that life's going to be less easy and so much different after stepping into my university life. So ultimately, what would I be doing during this period of time? The answer would be, I would spend time doing some cleaning for my personal spaces such as my desk and room, bake some pastries, do some blogging and take sufficient amounts of rest or perhaps practicing on my watercolor calligraphy skills (I've really been obsessed with watercolor calligraphy lately).


Here I am today to update about the events or stuff that I did last April, May and mid-June.

Got some new jeans from mango and bought a 'The Balm Nude Dude vol. 2" eyeshadow palette from sasa.

I really love these warm colours they're all so pretty!

There was a malayan tapir awareness campaign held in publika back in April.

Watercolour calligraphy, this was my first attempt at writing a random word. :)

Grandma brought these flowers back from somewhere and it looks pretty cool! 

It's called agapanthus/ lily of the nile.

Llao llao is like my all time favourite froyo ever. Got this from the new store in one u.

A part of the psychology stuffs that I needed to memorise.

Tried out Kyochon with mum and sis for the very first time! Kyochon always reminds me of the Lee Min Ho paper bag that everyone used to be holding around in pavilion and one u hahaha.

Potato wedges. RM7.90.

Sal sal strips. RM 22.90.

Red pepper chicken wingette and drummettes. This one's really really hot! RM 18.50.

These dishes come with two types of sauces which the yellow one would be honey mustard while the red one I'm assuming that it's red pepper sauce and it is as spicy as the red pepper chicken.

Sis ordered an extra sal sal wrap. The wrap contains fresh salad vegetables, little sliced mangoes, cheese strip and a piece of sal sal chicken. RM 14.90.

Caught a picture of the rainbow while we visited the thean hou temple on a sunday evening. Nope, that black dot is not a dirt on your screen, it was a bird flying in the skies. :p

Baked rainbow bagels on a weekday afternoon with sister as she was bored at home. We took almost a total of 6 hours just to bake this thing, nuts!

But these babies do look lovely and pretty. We love its beautiful pastel colours.

So perfect.

This was the end product! Unfortunately after going through the process of boiling and baking, the bagels changed their colours..

These bagels were super chewy! And it is best eaten with some cream cheese frosting.

Went to palsaik menjalara again and managed to capture a picture of their menu.

Finally had the chance to enjoy ikea's soft serve again. Only RM 0.80 for this which is really cheap!

There was a new shop named tokyo secret that sells hanjuku cheese tarts in ikano so I thought of giving it a try. RM7.90 each. I would say that it's quite pricey for its size.

But it does smell really good. Nothing really special about its taste though.

Mum brought a slice of Alexis tiramisu back home on a weekday. I've always heard about how good Alexis' tiramisu is but I have never tried it out before and I've got to say, it tastes really good! Super soft and the caramelized nuts were good!


Attempted to make baked eggs on a random weekday and succeeded!

Baked rainbow vanilla cupcakes with sis last week. So inspired to make all rainbow things lately.


This vanilla cupcake mix is seriously the bomb! I got this from the Ben's independent store at publika priced at RM14.90 each. I cannot describe it in words about how good this cupcake mix is but it makes the best vanilla cupcakes ever I have ever had, besides the ones that I bought from twelve cupcakes or wondermilk.

Such beautiful rainbow colours!


Besides, it tasted really really good with its fragrant vanilla bean taste.
